MODERN NON-INVASIVE METHODS IN THE DIAGNOSTICS, EXPERTISE AND REHABILITATIONOF CEREBRAL PALSY PATIENTS

The “Gravistat” reflex-loading device is used for regenerative treatment of cerebral palsy (CP) patients is a personally adjustable orthopedic apparatus consisting of elastic loading rubber bands. CP patients’ static posture and motions are corrected to improve motion stereotype by means of  the “Gravistat” elastic bands, that is CP patients neuromotor re-education is carried out [1]. The device structure gives the possibility to correct or to enhance motion-bearing apparatus separate segments pathological poses while training. So there are various ways neuromotor re-education by the “Gravistat” suit [2].

The given research is carried out to prove experimentally the neuromotor re-education methods choice wich was done empirically [1]. For this purpose the elastic bands fastening methods influence on kinetic and kinematic characteristics of CP patients’ walking is investigated. In the investigation 6 CP children aged from 6 to 14 took part. They have hips, knees and ankles different pathological poses. The analysis of CP patients walking was done by the functional (dynamic) electromyography as well as contact biomechanics methods [3] using the “MuscleLab” program-apparatus complex. The CP children walking was analyzed before, during and after the “Gravistat” training. While training the elastic bands were fastened differently to load several muscle groups by temporally correcting or enhancing hips, knees and ankles pathological poses.

As a result muscles-antagonists unequal reaction on axial load and correcting elastic bands load was found out in different CP children. It was possible to improve CP patients’ static posture and motions after temporally enhancing joints pathological poses. The double-joint elastic bands had greater influence like longer levers. The change of muscles-antagonists activity depended on fastened elastic bands application duration while training.

The research results testify to different opposite ways of proprioception modulation by the “Gravistat” are rightful..
